چکیده
Six cases of severe electrolyte disorders with acute kidney failure after overdosing on furosemide, spironolactone and captopril were reported. All them less than six months age congenital heart defects treated by cardiologists a dosage 2mg/kg spironolactone, per day. However, their parents gave the wrong dose, as result, all children received higher doses both furosemide (8.8 – 13.3mg/kg/day), (5.5 8.3mg/kg/day). This led to hyponatremia, hyperkalemia, injury. patients eventually recovered without any complication.

The efficacy of treatment with spironolactone for congestive heart failure secondary to congenital heart disease was studied in 21 infants under 1 year of age. All received digoxin and chlorothiazide. In addition, group A (n = 10) was given supplements of potassium and group B (n = 11) received spironolactone. Daily clinical observations of vital signs, weight, hepatomegaly, and vomiting were r...

Fetal diffusion MR imaging was performed in 3 fetuses with CHD. ADC values in the periatrial WM, thalamus, and basal ganglia were compared with those in a control population of fetuses. Diffusivity in the periatrial WM and thalamus was higher for the fetuses with CHD compared with controls. These observations support the finding of abnormal in utero brain development in fetuses with CHD.
